The Traveller’s Rest

The Traveller’s Rest is situated adjacent to Holme Farm/Peaceful Farmhouse and has its own separate kitchen and bathroom areas in a renovated traditional Lincolnshire Farm barn. Featuring both the Original 1927 Showman’s Wagon and a cosy Traveller’s Wagon you’ll have a truly unforgettable stay in Lincolnshire’s idyllic countryside surroundings.

The Showman’s Wagon features one small double bed, a set of bunk beds making it perfect for a family of four or flexible sleeping arrangements. This wagon contains almost all of its original historical features including its cooking stove (not in use for safety reasons). The cosy traveller’s wagon features a small double bed, and may be more suitable for the warmer months although winter quilts and a small oil heater will be provided for a winters night.

In the adjacent barns, there are all the facilities required for your stay including a modern kitchen/diner with electric oven, hob and fridge. The wood burner adds a cosy touch and creates a warm and inviting atmosphere on chillier nights. Enjoy the ambience of The Greyhound Inn, our makeshift outdoor bar and dining area. You can stay in touch with the authentic traveller’s setting with our brass walk-in shower room and separate toilet.

We do additionally provide electric heaters, electricity, bed linen, towels and fuel for the wood burner as well as a welcome pack. There is a private lawned garden within the barns making it perfect for families, and parking for two cars nearby.

Outside, you are surrounded by views of the peaceful Lincolnshire countryside. Take a leisurely stroll along our private farm tracks and look out for all the abundant wildlife including deer, hares, pheasants and many less common species of birds such as barn owls and buzzards. Take a longer walk to Donna Nook on the coast famous for its breeding grey seal colony (October to December). Marshchapel is ideally located for exploring the beauty of the Lincolnshire Wolds and Marshes. Visit the Georgian market town of Louth and discover independent shops, charming cafés and local attractions that showcase the best of Lincolnshire’s heritage such as the magnificent Parish Church of St James.

You can find more local attractions in our comprehensive guidebook below.

Please note: there are unguarded steps up to the sleeping accommodation and therefore this may not be suitable accommodation for very small children.
